Wining and dining
Dining aboard Windstar is, in a word, extraordinary. It begins at sunrise with coffee and croissants set out on deck and goes late into the evening, capped off with a cognac from the Pool Bar. The airy Veranda Restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch, where dining is inside or al fresco under the shade of huge sun umbrellas. On the menu for breakfast: a bounty of freshly baked breads and local tropical fruits, smoothies, waffles, and omelettes made-to-order. Lunch might be Asian satay or grilled quesadillas with papaya and black bean salsa. (Save room for bread pudding – a ship tradition.)
At sunset the spotlight shifts to dinner and the delicious possibilities ahead. Our Signature menus were created exclusively for Windstar by celebrity chefs, with an emphasis on local flavors – and a dash of imagination and surprise. Fresh jerked flying fish with spicy rémoulade and yam fries? Tiny apricot kiwi tarts for dessert?
This spirit of freshness and creativity extends beyond food. There are no formal seating assignments in The Restaurant, no need for a jacket or tie. So bring your appetite and high expectations; each evening is a celebration of fine wine and cuisine at its best.
Spa Services
The WindSpa on the Wind Surf The sea. A spa. Was there ever a more natural combination? Sink into a spa bath fragrant with seaweed and sage, and all cares melt away. Let an aromatic massage purify your mind. Skilled spa therapists are ready to soothe your body, mind and spirit with herbal wraps; massage; skin, hair and nail treatments; fitness and nutritional programs.
Onboard Activities
So many choices await you on Windstar. Some guests rise early and are off with the first tender to explore the day’s island, medieval village, or pristine rain forest. Others desire nothing more than a nap in the sun, a cool tropical beverage and a pedicure after lunch. That’s one of the hallmarks of a Windstar vacation: days are filled with joyful choices. One popular option is our sports program. For scuba divers or those who’ve always wanted to learn, we offer the chance to dive in crystalline waters. And at anchor, the ship’s sports platform is lowered, turning a pristine lagoon into a private marina where you can sail, kayak, ride the “banana boat,” or swim. Shore excursions are carefully chosen to reveal the essence of each place we visit, be it history, culture, nature, the marketplaces – and in many ports, all of these. A private tour of ruins in Greece, a hike through the rain forest with a naturalist, guided shopping excursions for batiks or Turkish rugs – all of the upcoming adventures are detailed each evening in a brief talk during cocktail hour in the ship’s Lounge. To do or not to do? To be adventurous, indulgent, active or not? Come enjoy a different day each day.
Watersports
Complimentary watersports are available in the afternoons on most itineraries when anchored, on all three Windstar ships. Visit the open-air watersports platform located aft. All watersports are offered sea and weather conditions permitting. In the event of turbulent seas and adverse weather conditions, watersports may be cancelled for safety reasons.
Waterskiing:
Enjoy an open-water skiing adventure in an exotic lagoon, bay, or harbor. For experienced skiers only. Skiing slots are typically half an hour and take a maximum of two skiers at any one time. Sign up times are available on the sports platform during open hours.
Kayaking:
Paddle off together to enjoy the coastal sights and get some exercise. Kayaks are available for one or two people for half-an-hour and must be entered from the water.
Windsurfing:
Among the most challenging of watersports. For experienced surfers only.
Sailing:
Enjoy the wind and the sea on the Topper or Rumba Escape Sailboats. Designed for experienced sailors, sailboats accommodate one or two people.
Scenic Boat Rides:
A relaxing way to take a closer look at the surrounding coast and wildlife. Come for a ride in one of our inflatable boats along scenic coastlines. Don’t forget to bring a camera!
Swimming:
If a swim is all you desire, this too is an option. A swim line and user-friendly ladder are provided as well as supervision for your safety.
Snorkeling:
Enjoy the underwater beauty of reefs, coral, sea life and sunken treasure in many of the ports. Complimentary snorkel gear is provided. Snorkeling excursions are available for an additional charge. Underwater cameras are also available.
Discover Scuba Diving/Certified Scuba Diving Program:
Both programs are led by our dive-masters who are PADI certified. The Discover Scuba Diving program for beginners includes a simple, comprehensive classroom and pool session. After that, beginners can sign up for designated dives. Experienced divers need to bring their certification card and can accompany the dive masters on all dives offered.
